WALLOWA VALLEY HEALTH CARE FOUNDATION

Raising money to help improve and expand health care services in Wallowa County

Providing health care in such a rural, remote area is no easy task, but because of people like you, Wallowa County has become a model for others to follow. When you support the work of the Wallowa Valley Health Care Foundation, you help us improve and expand health care services in our community.

Since 1991, your donations have made a big difference in the quality and scope of health care services. The Foundation helped raise money for our new award-winning hospital, which opened in 2007. Not only do we now have a state-of-the-art facility, it has also helped us attract and retain physicians from well respected medical schools around the nation.

Your donations have also helped us:

  • Invest in a state-of-the-art Genius 3D Mammography System
  • Purchase new four-wheel drive ambulances that can reach patients in the rugged terrain of the Wallowa Mountains
  • Improve and make updates to medical equipment in physical therapy, surgery, imaging, lab and nursing so that patients are provided with state-of-the-art technology
  • Invest in more equipment, training, and items to comfort those with cancer, so they have options to receive treatment close to home

To raise this money to make improvements to Wallowa County Health Care, the Foundation holds annual fundraisers and events that the whole community can enjoy. Use this website to learn how to contribute to the Foundation so that your donation can make the difference.

Announcing the MRI Challenge

On January 1, 2024, we officially launched The MRI Challenge.  Generous anonymous donors offered a one-time gift of $300,000 to support the purchase of our own permanent MRI system, with the challenge that we match the gift by June 30, 2024.

We have been renting an MRI unit, and after a cost vs. benefit analysis, it was determined that it makes sense to purchase our own, and build the space it will be housed in. With shipping, the total cost is $1,767,324.  Keeping people in our community so they don’t have to drive out of town and making sure they can get an MRI when they need it and not have to schedule out weeks in advance helps Wallowa Memorial Hospital provide premier care.

While that is a very tall order for our small foundation and community, we certainly didn’t want to turn away $300,000.  So, we are asking you, our donors, to please consider giving.  Every dollar counts, so your donation is appreciated, no matter the size.  We have until June 30, 2024.  Thank you for helping us meet the challenge presented so we might enjoy this sizable gift!

Three Ways to Donate:
