09 Jun Wallowa Memorial Hospital Earns DNV GL Accreditation
The awards and distinctions keep coming for Wallowa Memorial Hospital. The latest is the successful completion of the new accreditation process from DNV GL Healthcare, a world leader in certifications for quality, patient safety and clinical processes. By earning accreditation, Wallowa Memorial has shown it meets or exceeds patient safety standards (Conditions of Participation) set forth by the U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. DNV GL’s accreditation program is the only one to integrate the ISO 9001 Quality Management System with the Medicare Conditions of Participation.
“We made the decision to invest in DNV GL’s program because it is consistent with our long-term commitment to quality, patient safety, and improvement in all clinical and financial processes,” said Wallowa Memorial Hospital CEO Larry Davy.
The DNV GL’s hospital accreditation program involves annual surveys — instead of every three years — and encourages openly sharing information to uncover where more improvements can be made in all departments and functions of the hospital. DNV GL gives its hospital clients three years from the date of its accreditation to achieve compliance with ISO 9001 quality standards, the world’s most trusted quality management system used by performance-driven organizations around the world.
The DNV GL accreditation comes on the heels of Wallowa Memorial Hospital’s Top 100 Critical Access Hospital award by iVantage, a Top 20 CAH award by the National Rural Health Association, and a Patient Safety Excellence award by Healthgrades. Wallowa Memorial was also recently designated a Blue Zones Project Approved Worksite for its focus on employee and community health and wellness.
“The amount of recognition we’ve received shows that our physicians, leadership and staff remain focused on our mission, to provide premier health care,” said Davy. “This DNV GL accreditation is further validation of that.”
Thank you to everyone who has invested the energy, effort and dedication to keeping Wallowa Memorial Hospital on the leading edge of rural health care.
