Invest in Your Future: Scholarship Opportunities for Wallowa County Health Care Workers

The Wallowa Valley Health Care Foundation is pleased to announce three scholarship opportunities designed to help dedicated health care professionals in Wallowa County enhance their skills and advance their careers, ultimately benefiting the health of our community.

Available Scholarships

The Gail Swart Memorial Scholarship - $1,000

Supports education or training for individuals employed in nonprofit health care settings in Wallowa County who are seeking to improve their skills (must be first year of training).

The Gwen & Gladys Coffin Memorial Scholarship - $2,000

Provides financial assistance for education or training to enhance the skills of nonprofit health care employees in Wallowa County (must be first year of training).

The Edgar & Frances Boyd Burbridge Memorial Scholarship - $2,000

Supports individuals in their second year or higher of education or training to further their skills in a nonprofit health care setting in Wallowa County.

Eligibility Requirements (for all scholarships unless otherwise noted)

  • Resident of Wallowa County.
  • Employed in a nonprofit health care setting in Wallowa County.
  • Pursuing education or training to enhance skills and professional development that will benefit local health care services.
  • Commitment to working in Wallowa County for at least one year after receiving the scholarship.
  • The education or training is not a requirement of your current position.
  • Over 18 years of age and have completed high school.
  • For the Edgar & Frances Boyd Burbridge Memorial Scholarship: Must be in your second year or higher of education or training.

Applications are also available at the Wallowa Valley Health Care Foundation office inside Wallowa Memorial Hospital.

A complete application includes:

  1.  The application form.
  2. A short essay outlining your career goals related to the training/education.
  3. A simple budget for your training/education.
  4. A letter of recommendation from your current supervisor.
  5. One personal letter of recommendation.
  6. A letter of intent stating your plans for living and working in Wallowa County.
  7. A personal interview with the scholarship selection committee.
