15 Nov 22nd Annual Healthy Futures Dinner Auction Raises over $113,000
More than 200 bidders attended the 22nd Annual Healthy Futures Dinner Auction Saturday, November 11 at the Cloverleaf Hall in Enterprise to raise money for the new Genius 3D Mammography system. Just over $70,000 was raised in the room that night, with a silent and live auction, a paddle raise, and other ways to show support. With other donations mailed in from those who could not attend, the total exceeded $113,000 as of November 14.
“We really appreciate everyone’s generosity and support,” said Wallowa Valley Health Care Foundation Board President David Smyth of Wallowa. “We couldn’t raise that kind of money without the entire community behind us.”
Brothers Bob and Bill Williams acted as emcees for the evening. A special surprise musical tribute in honor of Veteran’s Day featured Dr. Liz Powers on the violin, retired Enterprise High band and choir teacher Randy Morgan on the trumpet; flutist Heather Tyreman; Mark Eubanks on the bassoon; and foundation board member Gail Swart on the piano. The group played America the Beautiful and God Bless America.
Other entertainment included a parody of the joys of hospital gowns, in a hilarious lip sync number performed by the Williams Brothers, and a fun song on mammography and the hospital to the tune of Tim McGraw’s I like it, I love it, I want some more of it, performed by “The Mammo Sisters” — Carolyn Lochert and Gail Swart.
“It was a great evening,” said Foundation vice president Diana Collins, whose father, Donald Hubbard, was an original founder of the Foundation. “The emcees were wonderful and kept the energy in the room high.”
